Phoenix Disappoint

Zephyr Rovers Manager Steve Hall confirmed tonight that he and Chairman George Nash attended the Phoenix game at the Westpac stadium. "We'd provided a few pointers over the Internet for Rikki Herbert and were impressed that he'd obviously taken on board some of the feedback" said Hall "but unfortunately the team wouldn't have scored a goal unless we were there until well after midnight". Hall said the Phoenix looked much improved overall and he thought it was a matter of time before they hit their straps. "They reminded me a bit of Rovers where we're new to the league and still getting used to the step up" said Hall "and like us I thought they looked like they ere on the right path to eventual success". Hall offered the Phoenix a game at Shed 1 anytime if they needed a bit of indoor play. "I think we could show them a few things about how top play in a sty old shed down on the wharf" said Hall "I don't think there is a lot of glamour to it but it might toughen them up".

Smith's toe poke from five hundred yards into the top corner twenty-five minutes into injury time from a passing ferry will long be remembered.
