George Nash said today he was astounded at how many people had forgotten the career of Paolo
Rossi after he named his son after the famous World Cup winning striker. "Paolo
Rossi single
handedly won Italy the World Cup back in 82" said Nash "remember that was the only one New Zealand ever got to".
Rossi had been banned for two years prior to the cup due to a betting scandal and was described as "a ghost wandering about aimlessly" in the opening three games. But
Rossi stunned the Brazilians with three goals before he went on to win the golden boot, the golden ball and the World Cup. "He had the form to play for Rangers and it is a pity he never did" said Nash "so we'll have to have another
Rossi playing for Rangers although it will be a few years yet".
