Beckham For Rovers

News that David Beckham may soon be coming to Wellington with the LA Galaxy to play against Wellington Phoenix has led to inevitable speculation that Zephyr Rovers are partly behind the deal. "We can't say at this stage if we've contributed to the million dollars fee to bring David out here" said Zephyr Chairman George Nash "and If I was overheard in a bar saying any different then that shouldn't be taken as confirmation that we are considering it". Nash said whilst he was confident that David would increase the crowd numbers at the Shed of Dreams he wasn't so sure that David was the right Beckham for Rovers. "We'd take a good look at Posh I think" said Nash "she could well be the answer to our recent striking problem as I'm told she is very striking". Nash said Rovers would certainly be prepared to go in with Terry Serepiso for a share of the million dollars but "would not be expecting to pay the lion's share".
